Instructions
- In a bowl, mix warm milk with sugar and yeast; let sit until frothy.
- Add melted butter and egg; stir in flour until a dough forms.
- Knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth. Cover and let rise until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
- Roll out dough to half an inch thick, cut into donut shapes, and let rest on parchment.
- Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry donuts for about 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown; drain on paper towels.
- For custard, whisk together heavy cream, sugar, vanilla, cornstarch, and egg yolks in a saucepan over medium heat until thickened.
- Cool slightly before filling each donut with custard using a piping bag. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
